TREKKING

Going on "trek." That is the quintessential word for missionary life. I grew up with the word. Dad did "it" as a missionary in Nigeria. It is part of South African history. It flavors my thoughts of Africa. It is "the" word of my life. Pack up your tent and join me!

SWEDEN

More than 100 years ago, my grandfather sailed from Sweden to NYC and then to South Dakota. This week, I made the return "voyage" to the father-land. Many of the buildings of Stockholm would have been there when he left. It was a tremendous privilege to be back in the land of my ancestors. This is a fabulous city that embraces the water that fingers its way through the archipelago right into the heart of Stockholm.

Joan and I were here to visit missionaries who are beginning a work in this country. Three couples are committed to working here and we hope many more will follow. While most would consider themselves Lutheran by name, only a handful would darken church doors except for confirmation, their wedding and a funeral. We hope to change that.

Please pray with us for many more workers for Scandinavia.
