TREKKING

Going on "trek." That is the quintessential word for missionary life. I grew up with the word. Dad did "it" as a missionary in Nigeria. It is part of South African history. It flavors my thoughts of Africa. It is "the" word of my life. Pack up your tent and join me!

Candidate Orientation

In the future, we’ll be saying “2010 was a very good year.” At least it was good in relation to new missionaries joining BMW. Pictured are some who are not going to restricted access countries. We just completed candidate orientation. With the January intake of candidates, a total of 34 have become part of the mission family. We spent the past couple of weeks getting to know candidates, letting them get to know BMW and then preparing them for deputation. Now (for them) comes the hard part. These are challenging days to raise support for the mission field. During the past couple weeks we also conducted Field Preparation Seminar for those about ready to leave for the field. Yes, it is still happening in spite of the economy. To add to the flury of activity, we also conducted a Rep’s Retreat and a Board meeting. So this has been a busy but productive month.
