TREKKING

Going on "trek." That is the quintessential word for missionary life. I grew up with the word. Dad did "it" as a missionary in Nigeria. It is part of South African history. It flavors my thoughts of Africa. It is "the" word of my life. Pack up your tent and join me!

AVANTI

"AVANTI" is an Italian word that means "forward, straight ahead." I was reminded of it last night at the commissioning service for Lewis and Sarah Carl. They are headed for Venice, Italy. We are only aware of one church on the islands of Venice. The Carl's church is located in a city that has the same population as Venice... but has hundreds of churches. So glad Lewis is planning to do something about that imbalance. In spite of the the difficult economy in the States, churches are still launching missionaries to the field. It is a privilege to part of this process.

Now off to Utah for a conference with my missionary colleagues there.
